i don’t really get how people think so categorically about certain things
specifically i’m thinking about mental or medical issues, like they’re just only problems when they’re problems (think DSM “significant impairment” clauses). i dont have a strongly considered opinion but my first blush stance is that “healthy” as a positive concept is maybe more accurately
the negative lack of something akin to “significant impairment”.maybe that’s too defeatist but i just have a really hard time constructing a proper teleology to adhere to (reminder that i need to finish macintyre, still not sure if i can generate positive virtues even when indexed by social context)
anyway i’m thinking about this because i disliked a smell in the hallway which by most objective measures was benign, and then that spiraled into thinking about “sensory issues”. even if most people wouldn’t be bothered by something, they do have a line somewhere, and they wouldn’t develop a complex

you need the metaphors to move and communicate in the world and i’ll take advantage of those as they come but ig i don’t feel the pull to make it anything bigger than what it is
