sometimes secondary lit is redundant but i still appreciate living less wrongly for drawing together different sources and bringing one point into focus, especially so after revisiting negative dialectics
if im being sympathetic i think this is part of the reason why "footnotes to plato" is appealing to many people, at least in part. like reading new material that draws out what was implicit, or pursues paths not traveled can be induce all the more appreciation for one's antecedents
it's obvi interpretively moribund but nonetheless i see the excitement of a certain sort as understandable, leaving aside the distasteful impulse of constructing a pedigree
