something that was kinda fun about college is that you were put in a position where you were forced into proximity with people fairly different from yourself
it wasn't experienced as fun at the time but i can appreciate it more now that meeting different sorts of people is more challenging
to some extent this is true of k-12 and work, except theres not nearly as much turnover and seasonal distinctness
