i had long hair as a kid and one time the cashier asked my mom “and does your daughter want a girl toy with that?” and i was glowing with joy for the next week
another honorable mention: in middle school we went on some camp retreat thing and i was laying on a picnic table while a group of girls braided my hair while we waited for announcements. the principal came over and said “ladies she’s very pretty but you have to go sit down now”
