like has naming historic events always been like this? are we just waiting for the dust to settle before attaching a label or something
think of the poor middle schoolers 70 years from now trying to remember arbitrary dates from flashcards man
ig it’s hard when you can’t just yoink the location as a title (“the US capital incident” doesn’t hit the same as “hiroshima” or “pearl harbor” or “tiananmen square”)
i wonder how much time passed before ppl decided to give up and settle for “the war of 1812”
for some reason 9/11 is exempt in my mind and gets a free pass
