defi a lot of contributing factors (incl. what you’ve mentioned)
but at the end of the day i think it comes down to ye olde boogeyman, liberalism.
there is a core notion of consensus as both a regulative ideal and something that actually exists. combined with a
public/private divide,
where conflict can be relegated to separate sphere, disruption of the latter is frowned upon.
just seems like a boring outgrowth of the lack of recognition of the conflict-ridden and political nature of the everyday
