this is sometimes true but even then, the lack of context is sometimes beneficial because it essentially allows everyone to post to their own echo chamber and develop the idea more thoroughly without the burden of being intellectually challenged
this has all of the obvious downsides that have been talked to death, and probably isn’t ideal for an actual community long-term, but depending on my mood, i appreciate it as a reader (as long as i actually am familiar with the context)
also when people are in friendly company they usually betray their actual motivations, and it becomes a lot easier to evaluate the argument in context
like this thread sounds like i’m endorsing anti-intellectualism for my own benefit but really it’s because i think others arguments are easier to parse when they don’t have their guard up
