breaking changes are great if everyone involved is not an idiot*
*with the minor caveat that more important that competency is level of investment, and most of the time your software isn't worth being invested in
there are a lot more "it depends" conditions but in general i think people should do them more often, or at least not shy away from them when its clearly a thorn. backwards compatibility is death. your new choices probably suck tho so maybe stay put
