random thing i wanna throw out there from reading raz, i think theres a ton of benefit from reading oppressively mid authors. if you only hit up "the greats" in standard curricula you lack the cultivation of a bullshit detector and miss out on the enjoyment of well-formed thoughts

unfortunately "the greats" are usually mid as hell so undergrads aren't completely deprived, however its a different kind of mid from a grad student phoning it in
