i'm so curious i wonder if the translator translated it "ego-alien" as a way to be more legible to english audiences or if that was actually roughly a phrase in use in 60's german psychology (which would be fascinating)

okay it turns out i was actually the one being anachronistic, ego-dystonic came later and is american DSM type shit, ego-alien is accurate and more specific anyway, neat
