the thing about microblogging without comments/follows is that it feels more like a blog on a personal site, with the proper isolation to develop an internal objectivity
i still think things like this are a fun idea and have their place, but having a book or article as an independent object allows it a certain weight it wouldn’t have if immediately exposed to external judgement at all times
it allows for a suspension of disbelief, and of course this is concomitant with a lack in corrective mechanism, but there are other indirect methods (personal correspondence, published responses of one’s own, etc)
it’s not all good but it grants me a bit of clarity to risk wrongness and work things out for myself
