i don't know why people think it's impressive to sidestep the issue of moral patienthood and jump to the moral implications of dispositions and the like. at best it's unenlightening and at worse it's offensive to the material itself
from aristotle to hume to kant to mills to williams people love trodding it out and it's just so uncompelling
