it's so interesting how many horror films there are with the genre. i feel like its a remnant of found footage horror films but tbh i'm not familiar enough with the history to know
it just seems like there's a very wide variety of stories you could tell, and that horror is honestly kind of an odd choice. in order to create the sense of danger, a lot of them kinda betray the genre by kidnapping or physical assault or whatever.
and its hard to see what else they could do, given the fact that if you were really worried for your safety online you could just turn it off lol. ig overall point is that i think other genres could take advantage of screenlife far better, and its interesting that it hasn't happened much
a film akin to emily is away for example could be pretty cool. even the vn is very much defined by choices, i feel like you could explore similar themes while maintaining screenlife and still pull it off without being interactive
as a method of visual storytelling i find it really enthralling tbh, and i'd love to see more of it. there's so much emotion you can display with little gestures, and theres so much characterization you can do by looking at someones computer habits/hygiene.
i respect the films that don't try to skirt around the limitations too - like not just tacking a webcam onto someones head and be like oooo isn't that so spooky when its just uninspired plot convenience lmao. i've seen so many creative shots and i wish they would lean into it more.

than to create contrast with the busy moments and create suspense. look i'm clearly an idiot and have no idea what i'm talking about when it comes to film but i've seen a few moments and techniques that really excite me and i'd like to see more
lmao how did anyone think Ratter was a good idea. it's boring, says nothing, actually just worthless lol
Host was actually really well done. I mean the jumpscare/loud noises ghosts horror (so the actual plot ig lol) is pretty zzz but like technically what they did with the film is well executed
idek what to say about Spree. it was a maybe a little funny if you squint
just watched Dashcam, unfortunately
Untitled Horror Movie was a chore to get through
Language Lessons was nice (not quite great), i wish there were more multilingual media
the reasons it wasn't great were mostly plot related tho, i liked the cinematography (simple is sometimes better!). and to clarify, it was a largely enjoyable movie, just wasn't saying anything distinctive or significant or resonant
