basically a lot of people can get into left-of-center politics out of compassion for others, and things like “equality/equity”, “human rights”, “(social) justice” seem like good orienting principles to genuinely help people. but theoretically (i believe) those are dead-ends
and will eventually be a barrier to achieving meaningful change. so staying committed to those kinds of values can keep people trapped at a poor level of analysis, but thinking your way out of your own foundations is really tricky
oop sorry i hope i didn’t scare you off, fwiw i think it’d be interesting to listen to you talk theology stuff ^-^
i was gonna post the following but i hope it doesn’t seem overbearing
