sorry sorry basically a lot of people can get into left-of-center politics out of compassion for others, and things like “equality/equity”, “human rights”, “(social) justice” seem like good orienting principles to genuinely help people. but theoretically (i believe) those are dead-ends
and will eventually be a barrier to achieving meaningful change. so staying committed to those kinds of values can keep people trapped at a poor level of analysis, but thinking your way out of your own foundations is really tricky

i was gonna post the following but i hope it doesn’t seem overbearing “mhm i getcha, i just tend to think that we can do without it (and would be better off for it, as i see a rather great danger in abuse of appeals to concepts such as these for achieving political goals directly)”
