if i’m being more helpful, it might be useful to see this as a theoretically enlightening exaggeration a la adorno but acknowledging it as such diminishes its purpose so i refuse to do so mrow dreary.dev/blog/reply-t...

My world was forcibly closed. I struggled, but I sunk down below consciousness as if there were weights tied to my legs. " " I screamed something out, but the words held no shape. The outline of my ego lost its shape, and I sunk down into the depths, like a sugar cube dissolving in water.

My ego tried to drag itself back out. The continuity of myself being myself. My consciousness melted and split apart. I lost the hands with which to struggle. I lost the arms with which to struggle.

Down into the depths. Down into the depths. I sunk below the surface. The depths of my mind. A sinking self. A disappearing world. It watched the world. The lost... world.

Teeth grit and bitter wind gusts against a face. Frigid tears stream out. Utopia is out of reach; relief evades me.

yea i think the ‘absolute origin’ is a bit of a sticking point but i should have clarified that this isn’t like a one-and-done idealogical commitment (‘divide’ was misleading), each are modes of historical analysis (and my reference last night was a gesture toward likely points of disagreement)

i mean he’s right insofar as one’s politics are limited to lifestylism but imo his use extends a bit too far into dismissing the lifestylish actions themselves, and that’s more contextual

in this house we STAN lifestylists (novatore is super boring tho lmao, stirner and nietzsche are more fun on their own)

fwiw, as is the case in general with anarchists, i think they capture an important sentiment but the content itself is rather thin/poor, and requires extraction and further interpretation to be valuable

probably too far afield but jacob blumenfeld’s “All Things Are Nothing To Me” is a fun rational reconstruction that makes some bold moves (spinozist individualism :o)

lololol i saw you linked novatore to kasey yesterday

oops sorry i fell asleep :> i primarily had Raymond Geuss’ “Nietzsche and Genealogy” in mind
This kind of pedigree, then, has five main characteristics:

Nietzsche and genealogy
1. In the interests of a positive valorization of some item
2. the pedigree, starting from a singular origin
3. which is an actual source of that value
4. traces an unbroken line of succession from the origin to that item
s. by a series of steps that preserve whatever value is in question.
'Genealogy' as practiced by Nietzsche differs from the tracing of a pedigree in all five respects. 'Genealogy' is certainly not undertaken with the intention of legitimizing any present per-son, practice, or institution, and won't in general have the effect of enhancing the standing of any contemporary item. Morality, culture, and history
far as points 2 and 3 are concerned, gencalogy doesn't characteristically discover a single origin for the object of its investiga-tion. To take the example Nietzsche himself analyzes in greatest detail, Christian morality does not go back to a single instituting activity by a particular person or small group in ancient Pal-estine. The whole point of Genealogy of Morality is that Christian morality results from a conjunction of a number of diverse lines of development: the ressentiment of slaves directed against their

*throws up in my mouth while shaking your hand* :)

i misread the post by not putting enough of the right type of weight on “no interest in trying to convince” and thought you were instead implying one either felt the draw or didn’t and nothing could be done

agree on the anti-enlightenment rationality but suspect we disagree heavily on the pedigree/genealogy divide anyhow i’ll stop bugging ya and hope to check out the book, ty for convo <3

this is such peak comedy i have to assume it was staged

ngl idk what’s with the fatalism, i had assumed you’d think any fallen person could come around

yea no worries not expecting a whole exigesis, would adore any reading references that are significant to you

what’s post abt it :o

yeah i mean i only care about individual change in the ideal typic case as representative of a political group. and we’re quite opposite the character traits we find admirable :)

can a <adjective> <adjective> christian(?) and an anarcho-marxist radical realist get along 🥺

erm i could show u but im embarrasssed and shy >.< but in like a super masc intimidating way

lol i know you know this but just to clarify i wasn’t meaning good as in Good as in christian or even like individual redemption. but yeah i get what you’re saying in that you don’t care about positive change you just want to stop the bleeding (there’s a metaphor here, but it’s escaping me…)
