all i'll say is that it makes sense that bsky folks were inspired and influenced by the conversations in his footnotes, and i kinda wish they were more upfront about that (but then again, i wish most people were more well-cited for this very reason)

not to say that this is like core foundational whatever, but usually the more tenuously connected things have outsize influence. like my politics page doesn't only list things i completely agree with, just things that have been important to my development.

the old playlist modal was way better than the dropdown that only lets you select one assignment before closing. the icons are helpful but they also make the ui cramped. also, probably not intentional in the old design, but it would persist when the page redirected

i think this is probably due to 1) the right context is difficult for this type thing, it's difficult to feel comfortable asserting it in passing in an academic piece when it's not your main concern. so even if it's readily acknowledged or understood by experts in the field, the lack of

codification of that knowledge doesn't filter through. which connects to 2) in that the right context is dedicated course material on the subject, but undergrad courses attempt to cover so much quantity they rarely have time to meditate on individual points and tracing their lineage.

and not to mention i lowkey wouldn't expect the TAs to be familiar enough or to care enough either. i can maybe see it being spoken about in grad classes or seminars but those are very hit or miss and can be just as cursory in all honesty.
