i think the participation argument is distinct to some extent, like sort of like morally corrosive on one’s character. i’m sympathetic to the experiential/phenomenological critiques but think they’re mostly marginal, and apply equally to like, going to the DMV.

and some of these criticisms are still dependent on thinking “it’s *my* money going to fund bad things”. we’d need to cache out ‘participation’ a lot more for this to have bite. and i don’t think it’s unique or even best handled by insurrectionist types

p.s. ur cute and ily

please direct all insurrectionist complaints to the CEO of individualist anarchism (matt bruenig)

more seriously though, not that i can see. insurrectionists would just not pay their taxes and use the money to pay for more resin for their 3d printed guns. 1/2

their only complaint would be that of every other liberal, namely that they couldn’t buy as many commodities. the complaint isn’t revolutionary just because the use-values might be utilized in revolutionary ways. 2/2

the only reason anarchists should take umbrage with taxes is that they presuppose and maintain the money form (not to mention are historically responsible for its proliferation)

i don’t understand :) but maybe i’ll just ask you offline bc im embarrassed owo

that’s interesting, i’d like to mess around with it more w you sometime. bc it seems like ocr was the bit messing up in these examples (maybe, it’s hard to tell). what is the actual output file from layoutparser?

the whole book is basically an extended meditation on On Truth and Lies

it’s actually kinda nice not having any friends at work now, it encourages me to be more completely alienated, keeping a tough outer shell without pores for the toxins to seep in

lolll cute well thank you for trying

this is kinda why i wanted it to just crop (or just apply a white box over the relevant area), ocrmypdf is entirely serviceable i don’t need layoutparser to do everything !

i'm too tired to 100% grasp this rn but with a cursory peek this looks incredibly promising tysm

okay but even dworkin would be like: "i mean cmon thats pretty sweet if you think about it"

you added a d to the link 🤭

okay so what im hearing is: i will go to work and provide for our family while you stay at home doing wifely duties (developing the solution to software issues i'm having)

this is literally my nightmare (i spout nonsense on social media and gf corrects me after doing 5mins of research and coming up with the correct solution) in other words thank u i love u

im legit a decade late this is so awkward chat

yea you're probably right. i skimmed some tesseract/ocrmypdf docs earlier and didn't see anything too hopeful. if i was more ML pilled i would take up the mantle myself. what i'm envisioning rn is it would take image of a page, recognize footnotes, and crop the image, and OCR would come in after

my bash script to clean up the formatting of text from books is also really useful for TTS purposes. the audio flows a lot more smoothly, and it in my most recent example it cut out 25 minutes of unnecessary pausing.

the final frontier will be to somehow exclude footnotes, however arbitrarily they are placed. but i'm kinda at a loss of how i might accomplish that. i assume it would have to be at the OCR level? and exclude font sizes that are too small? but that seems way above my skill level for now

politics and the imagination, raymond geuss, pg 158

when i read that footnote i perked up with excitement bc i knew exactly what geuss had to say about that interpretation hehe

ohhh yeah, when i do listen to HN that’s usually my preferred mode (too weak to raw dog it, so instead i give my normie shit more texture)

(i don’t know what HN is and at this point im too afraid to ask)

it’s actually (a surprisingly narrow range of tracks)

you can make your own noise music out of non-noise music :3
