sorry i was driving and didn’t get to reply, i have a lot of thoughts about this! usually im pretty opposed to community notes, though im more sympathetic in this case to the actual function. i see how it could be implemented too, like someone writes to their repo and people upvote/downvote

tho honestly it seems like a lot of effort for something that would be a lot simpler solved by respecting record edits, even if there was just a carve-out for alt text. lots of potential extra overhead on thread retrieval too.

personally my obsession with alt text is largely due to searchability, and it’s unclear if it’s a good idea to allow person a’s words in person b’s mouth. from:user returning results from another user seems potentially problematic idk. and then there’s brigading/moderation concerns…

maybe extra threadgate and detach options but still. overall i’d say probably a no from me, but i see the vision! hopefully you didn’t feel too ignored hehe <3
