my high school girlfriend's mom was so fucking cool. immigrated from the philippines, her (generally already absent) husband got deported for fraud and she raised her three kids by herself and put them through college working multiple jobs. she was unbelievably kind, warm-hearted, and soft spoken.

my gf admired her so much and wanted to do everything possible to make her safe and happy. i didn't meet her too frequently (she was very busy and my gf wasn't even supposed to be dating) but every time i did i was similarly impressed and incredibly touched.

we've since fallen out of contact for obvious reasons but i hope she is living a happy, restful life.
