this is true tho. they might have massive disagreements but they both reject core tenants of liberalism that obscure the conversation (neutrality in particular re:’compromisers’)
i know zoe’s read at least some geuss but Who Needs a World View? (the essay) and Not Thinking Like a Liberal cover this well, basically any time he talks abt Krigler. (not a unique observation to geuss by any means ofc)
i also somewhat dislike the framing because it implies there was a pure vision of atproto at one point that we need to return to and (again, as far as i can tell) it’s always been a bit more messy than that
btw this was me 5mo ago, touching bsky data for the first time. i didn’t know anything about the api (or atproto for that matter) so i just went scrounging around in the network tab of devtools
y’all should keep that in mind when talking with me: that i basically know nothing, what i do know is from surface level trial and error brute-forcing, and that everything is pretty much a first time for me
fwiw i have the same recollection of explicitly setting it to ‘oldest first’ and it’s now set to hot as well, tho same as you i could be misremembering :)
