hehe nah i totally get it, id be embarrassed too
i just published a pile or garbage and if anyone inspected the code i would faint
but it’s really cool to learn and taking a step back i think the sorta public collaboration problem solving stuff is really inspiring
i am julidev’s biggest fan awaaa
tbh i still haven’t budged much philosophically on it, pragmatically it’s convenient and i’m glad i stopped worrying about it, but i still think it’s very open to valid criticism
ig i'm just not super convinced of green. you *can* re-appropriate fear but i don't really know if undertaking that redefinition is the most promising political prospect. tho ofc "who (does what to) whom (for whose benefit)?" remains the perennial political question, and
after much deliberation i have decided to increase my 401k roth contribution from 12% to 18%.
nvm before i pressed send on this i convinced myself to go for 20% because i was being a cuck
i'm still sending like 500/m for normal stocks for the time being, i just needed to be way more aggressive with my retirement plan so i think sending 1.2 there makes sense.
good to adjust after a year of employment and i'm in a more stable spot.
going forward i'm gonna be less conservative with my savings acc, it's just the medium for transactions and should be kept to a pretty low level. the other day i had to move 8k out and i should probably still move more to investments
i wasn't saying its a good thing!! it's an orientation that has been jettisoned to great detriment
also i was being a bit hyperbolic :3 dw romanticism can never die until prxr does >:)
(it does live on in many ways, not all of them good. i've been meaning to read more romantics for a while now)
they are special because they are one of the last instances of emotional listeners in the contemporary age. in a world where romanticism has been slain, they are an endangered species.
the phenomenon also has obvious fascistic undertones, between a sentiment of missed fulfillment and the desire for motherly consolation. where this frustrated energy leads is an open question, but it's not a mistake than a not insignificant number of these listeners become incel-esque.
this is all the more fascinating because the characteristics of emotional listeners are feminine, yet this is a masculinist inversion to an aggressive tenor. the emotional core is often obfuscated for sake of pyschic parsimony and public presentation, but these men wear their hearts on their sleeves
it's not about creativity, its about the politically, existentially, and aesthetically corrosive effect on the listener and composer, and is reflective of and contributing to the maintenance of disastrous features of existing society
popular music is standardized with interchangeable constituents (see: tiktokification of composition). serious music derives its musical sense from the concrete totality of the piece and is not merely an instantiation of a pre-given musical scheme
i mean the whole notion of ‘classism’ is just stupid.
any ‘-ism’ like that is advocating for anything less than the self abolition of the class has completely lost the plot.
“sex has independent, inevitable, transhistorical ontological validity, so we just need to learn to treat everyone equally!” 🤡
also the retreat in sociology from class as a philosophical category is incredibly bleak. now it’s just income and vibes based.
“we ran a poll and 90% of people said they were middle class. but obviously that’s wrong so let’s say 50-90k. yes this is a serious discipline.”
had a dream that mary and jules came over and so did my lesbian best friend from high school, my neet lesbian friend-of-a-friend, and a few other people. we didn’t doing anything in particular, just hanging around and chatting, it was cozy
