i think it buys too much into the self-aggrandizing narrative that humanities folks have some secret special knowledge behind the scenes that the layperson couldn’t understand. like yeah that’s defi true sometimes, but most of it’s just slop.

also “humanities” is like hella broad so it’s unclear if i’m exporting too much of my own experience where it doesn’t belong.

also tho i’ll say it’s easy for me to see someone give a take and recognize it as similar to something i’ve read, and actually misread the original point someone was making bc i filled in the gaps myself
